 Yesterday Room 8, went to  Athletics at Love lock track, it was really sunny and hots. When we got at the track the girls did the running first while the boys where doing the activity, i did the 200 meter race with some year 6 girls,  i raced as fast as i could to the finish line and came 3rd, place i was going to finals but then my leg started to hurt so i couldn't do it,  after the girls finished running we did all the activities like, long jump, high jump, shotput and diskies. after we finshied we did class relays, i was in the class relays our class came 4th and room 6 came 3st

Dear Carla,

I would like to apologise for not coming to see you on Friday and Saturday. Thankyou for your amazing gift that you gave me. I am so sorry for not coming to lunch with you and for not helping you pack your bags to leave for your new school. I really miss you so much and wish I was there to help.


I did go to  Collen birthday party and I really enjoyed it because there were so much lollies and chocolate and me and jeff played all the games but jeff won them all which was sad for me, Me and jeff also had chocolate cake and went for third slices of cake, I ate  to much and went home sick i wish i never at that much.


I appreciate you giving my book to miss Ebble. I can't believe that Miss Ebble gave me a golden star because my book report was really good and she enjoyed it and I know it was because she said it was and read it over and over again.

I am starting to do my homework because of you and because Miss Ebble gave me a golden star

Room 8 has started reading There's a BOY IN THE GiRLS Bathroom by louis Sachar. We have read up to chapter 8 and we really enjoy Mrs Green read it to us. Have u read this book. If  you  have what would u think if u meet Bradley chalkers. Would u be his friend.

My birthday

My Birthday

On April the 15 2020 was my 10th birthday. My birthday was cool and a bit weird for me because I was in quarantine because of COVID 19. I got some really cool presents. My two sisters made me some presents. They got one of their journals and put some baby photos of me in there as well as writing saying happy birthday to me. They also made me another big card full of baby photos. They gave me a giant chocolate egg and my little sister who helped as well gave me a card for 20 bucks. My oldest sister gave me some makeup platelets and some lip balms. They both did the cards and the baby photos for me. My nanny gave me 50 bucks and put it in my bank account. My mum made me breakfast in bed. It was eggs on toast with a nice and warm hot chocolate. It was the best day. Tonight my mum had the best idea since McDonald's is closed because of COVID 19 she decided to make homemade McDonalds! She said I got to choose a frozen drink or milkshake. I said frozen drink so she will be making that for us tonight. I love my bday and it is only the start.

It was a gloomy night with scary creatures and bugs running around the outside of the haunted castle. It looked cold, damp and dead. The castle was surrounded by crooks and a scarecrow. It was dangerous to go inside but I just had to go in. As I pushed the door it slowly creaked. Inside was black. I could barely see anything. The only thing I could see was the stairs leading up into the darkness. I didn't want to go upstairs but I wanted to solve the mystery. As I walked up slowly, like it was a horror movie, I heard a creak then crack on the second to the last step.....

I was standing in a lonely house on top of a rock next to the sea. It felt really peaceful and quiet over here and the best thing about living here was that. The ocean was smooth and the air smelled fresh. I could see fish swimming in the ocean. I had to have a swim. Splash, in I went. The ocean was so pretty. It had coral and was clear. It was very unusual. As I got out of the ocean I quickly went to get my fishing rod so the fish wouldn't swim away before I got back. As I went fishing I caught a great big fish. I was so happy I went inside and got a book out and started reading about pirates. It was such a good book.

Boom! Bash! The clouds combined together as this object which was controlling the clouds spun into life. The lightning struck and swoosh the wind went. The trees were going from side to side and the rain was pouring down. It was going to get worse! Buildings were being broken down. Crash, boom, bash another building went. It looked like it was on top of a hill,  higher than any of the buildings in the city. The clouds were getting more grey than usual and the lighting was turning red and purple. Salvation, I said to myself as I was trying to get to safety will come when the object finally works!

Slip my feet went as I moved on the slippery stairs covered in freezing cold snow. As I carried on walking up the stairs a great big whoosh came out of nowhere I felt like an ice cube after that big whoosh. I finally got to a hollow bit covered in rocks they were so close together I felt like they would fall on me.

Piece by piece the world was despairing, I stood there worried looking at our town fall apart, suddenly I heard a crack. I looked down and saw cracks below my feet. I panicked and ran away as quickly as I could. I could feel the burning sun getting closer and closer to us as the town was falling apart. I could feel bits and pieces of the building dropping down on me like it was going to collapse.

I was flying through the freezing cold air as I moved around in a brown box. I could see a shallow river below me. I looked back and I could see a man following me. The wind was very strong and was pushing me towards home. I could feel the breeze from up in the sky. Ahhh I screamed. I was about to bump into a tree. I suddenly used all my strength and pulled myself to the right so I didn't crash into the tree. The wind was getting even worse. I was moving so fast I could barely see anything next to me. I was so high I could see people flying kites and people chopping wood. The end

Kupe

Kupe: History tells us that Kupe was a brave, clever and furious person. Kupe came from Hawakii and travelled on a canoe also known as a waka. Suddenly a giant octopus crashed into their waka. Kupe had no choice except to attack the giant octopus. Kupe struck from the sky and hit the giant octopus so hard with his bare hands that the octopus died.

The people in Kupe's family were his two daughters Matui , Matui name meaning was some islands and the second daughter Makora and the meaning of Makora is War Islands he had to wives and killed his cousin by drowning him for his wife Kuramārōtini

Howick Historical Village

On Thursday the 5th of march Room 8 went to Howick Historical  Village, it was really fun and we learned about people in the 1850s  to the 1860s. We played some olden days game that are still invited and that you can find in some of the toy shops. The toys were used to be played on a boat when they were travelling. All the toys were made out of wood because in the olden days they didn't use plastic so they used wood to make toys. In the olden days, the children had to make the toys because there was no toy shop back then. We went to school it was really fun and we learned more about the school back in the 1850s. If you were naughty at school you would have gotten a smack with the stick or a ruler. We used chalkboards instead of whiteboards. We also did how to communicate in the olden days. here are some photos that we did at the Howick Historical Village.
